This firm specializes in green sustainable designs for commercial, industrial, institutional and custom residential buildings. I am Annastacia L. Sequoyah, AIA and am a US Green Builder and member of the American Rainwater Association, American Solar Energy Society and a long time member of the Sierra Club. I design and build and believe that the manifestation of design into physical reality is a divine experience. Sustainable Design has been a passion of mine for decades and I would welcome the opportunity to work on similar projects in any region of the country or abroad.
Alternative energy building starts at the beginning of the design process and positions the building for the benefit of natural occurring breezes and passive solar penetration into the building with consideration to views and other site issues. This sounds easy but is a very complex and important concern. Once a building is built and is positioned on the site without thought to these vital site needs; then it becomes more of an issue on how to retrofit the building to minimize consumption of energy.
Once the site has been selected and we know that it will be sustainable and green then the proper building materials for the construction can be selected. Then by adding complete systems for the generation of power like photovoltaic-solar panels, wind turbines and solar hot water heaters and by doing rain water harvesting from the roof, then the structure becomes a working generating system. A partner in living a sustainable life rather than one that consumes energy and large utility bills. Also, studies have shown children learn better in natural light and worker's have less sick days in a green environment.
I pride myself in listening to my clients, programming their needs and really becoming a partner in their construction dream. Many of my clients have remained friends.
